Our Community Interest Company (CIC) exists to create more opportunities for people with learning disabilities and/or autism to connect, develop skills and feel part of their community.
The CIC is a separate legal organisation from Dragon Care, but its purpose is informed by the experiences of the individuals and families we work with. These connections help us understand where opportunities are missing and where community projects could make a meaningful difference.
Our ethos is simple: listen to people, recognise their strengths and involve them in shaping opportunities that matter to them.

Finding suitable, affordable and accessible activities can be challenging. People and families may struggle to find opportunities that reflect their interests, meet their support needs or help them build lasting friendships. Moving from children’s services into adulthood can bring further gaps.
Through our work across Dragon Care, we hear about these challenges directly. The CIC provides a way to respond by developing projects shaped around the needs and aspirations of the community.
We aim to complement existing services and work with local partners to address unmet needs.

We develop community projects that bring people together through shared interests, learning and enjoyable activities. This includes exploring opportunities in gaming, coding, creative activities and social participation.
We seek grants, partnerships and other funding to help turn these ideas into accessible opportunities. Funding can support the staff, equipment, resources and delivery costs needed to make projects possible and reduce financial barriers to participation.
We want our projects to help people grow in confidence, develop skills, strengthen friendships and experience a greater sense of belonging. As projects develop, we will use participation records, individual feedback and personal stories shared with consent to understand their impact and improve what we offer.

People with learning disabilities and/or autism, their families and supporters have an important role in shaping our work. We welcome their ideas and experiences, alongside opportunities to collaborate with community organisations, businesses and funders.
Our CIC offers a way for partners to support community projects informed by direct experience of the gaps people face. We aim to be clear about what each project will deliver, how funding will be used and what difference it makes.
If you would like to support a project, explore a partnership or share an idea, we would love to hear from you.
